Birat Medical College

Teaching hospital

Birat Medical College Teaching Hospital is where medical education meets clinical practice.

Birat Medical College Teaching Hospital (BMCTH) is a multispecialty teaching hospital located on the college campus in Tankisinwari, Morang. It serves patients from eastern Nepal and provides an important clinical learning environment for students enrolled in the college’s medical and health science programmes.

Our history

The hospital’s history traces back to a single-bed clinic established in 1991 by Chairman Dr. Gyanendra Man Singh Karki. Since then, the institution has developed its healthcare services and clinical training capacity to serve a broader range of patient needs.

Clinical training and practical experience

The teaching hospital helps students develop clinical knowledge, practical competence, communication skills, and professional responsibility through supervised learning and exposure to real healthcare environments.

MBBS clinical training

Medical students gain clinical exposure through rotations in hospital departments, where they observe patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary healthcare delivery. This training is complemented by a rotating internship as prescribed by the academic programme.

Nursing education

Nursing students gain practical experience in hospital wards and community settings, developing essential skills in patient care, clinical communication, and professional practice.

Laboratory and imaging training

Students in medical laboratory technology and medical imaging programmes develop practical skills through exposure to diagnostic laboratory procedures, imaging services, and relevant clinical workflows.

Postgraduate medical training

Postgraduate residents participate in supervised clinical learning within their respective specialties, strengthening their diagnostic abilities, clinical judgement, and professional expertise.

Multispecialty healthcare services

The hospital provides a clinical environment for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up across multiple medical specialties. Its services support both patient care and the educational requirements of healthcare students.

Integrated clinical learning

The integration of academic teaching and hospital-based practice allows students to connect classroom knowledge with clinical experience. Through supervised learning, they gain an understanding of clinical decision-making, patient communication, teamwork, and ethical healthcare practice.

Serving the community

BMCTH serves patients from surrounding communities and the wider eastern Nepal region. Its role combines healthcare delivery with clinical education, helping future healthcare professionals understand the needs of diverse patient populations.

Our commitment to clinical excellence

Through the integration of academic teaching and hospital-based practice, Birat Medical College Teaching Hospital supports the development of knowledgeable, skilled, and responsible healthcare professionals while contributing to regional healthcare delivery.
