How to apply
Admission to every programme is through the Medical Education Commission’s common entrance examination.
Undergraduate programmes (MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing, BPT, BMLT, MIT)
- Watch for the MEC notice. The Medical Education Commission announces on mec.gov.np when MECEE-BL applications open.
- Apply online. Submit your application at entrance.mec.gov.np and keep the application confirmation page.
- Sit MECEE-BL. 200 multiple-choice marks in 3 hours, with 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Make the merit list. Candidates at or above the 50th percentile are ranked. If fewer than twice as many candidates sit as there are seats, the bar is 50% marks.
- Choose BMC at counselling. Attend MEC counselling and select Birat Medical College.
- Pay and enrol. Pay the first instalment as MEC instructs, collect your admission letter from Kathmandu University and report to the college.
Foreign candidates apply either through MECEE-BL (sub-category I) or, without sitting it, on the strength of their own national entrance result at or above the 50th percentile (sub-category II, for seats left after sub-category I). See international students.
Postgraduate programmes (MD/MS)
Apply for the Medical Education Common Entrance Examination for postgraduate programmes (MECEE-PG) when the Medical Education Commission (MEC) opens applications, sit the examination, and choose Birat Medical College at counselling. See the MD/MS programmes for eligibility.
